My acupuncture intern can hardly wait to finish her schooling in Portland, and head back to Alaska, where she will work in a rural clinic. We're both rural girls, incompatible with the city, but not ungrateful for its opportunities. Thankfully, Forest Park in NW Portland where we live, shelters us from the urban storm, and takes where the wild things are. I know she would love this vista.
